Yes, I’ve gone through that entire struggle myself of having to find out what works and what doesn’t, spending thousands $ on educational programs and business mentors. I’ve managed to grow successful businesses in UK, Hong Kong and Australia all whilst being a time-poor single mum.

A Bit More About Me.. the nitty gritty stuff
Being a business owner…the confusion, the challenges, those highs and lows, I’ve been there too.
At one time, I couldn’t understand just how the hell other business owners were cracking that client getting code. And, as for websites, social media, brochures, ads etc…. argghhh. I had no idea what came first.
Even worse I had no clue how to recognize what the difference was between several hugely different quotes..!!!
Working long hours and crazy self-doubt would make me question my abilities.
I started my first business in England and though it was tough going at times, I was kinda shored up by a pretty successful husband.
Then came the move to Hong Kong with 2 young kids.
Then a divorce.
And, the sh!t hit the fan.
New business in a foreign land, trying to feed the kids and keep a roof over our heads meant some big lessons had to be learned – fast!
Tough – yes.
Hungry – yes at times.. the trials of a single mum!
I slogged and I hustled and worked with some good mentors and within 2 years managed to be turning over $17m a year.
Publishing – an industry I knew n.o.t.h.i.n.g. about
Then came the bright idea of sending out a one page newsletter to our client base.
Sounded good.
Yet, within a week, this one page became 36 pages of a bi-monthly, glossy, coffee table magazine.
Like any business, it’s all about marketing.
And I’d learned the hard way, years and years of trial and error. Taking courses, learning stuff and getting mentors.. yep I’d cracked it!
By edition two with a print run of 12,000, the major airlines were requesting copies for their flights.
Hard work – yep.
Proud – yep.
In Australia (yes I’m a bit of a gypsy I guess) came a different adventure – an award winning marketing agency which grew very quickly to serve local, regional and international clients.
10 Years ago, IP (Intellectual Property) Consulting was added to my portfolio of ‘knowledge’ and I now work with inventors and innovators to protect their ideas with patents and trademarks, prior to market launch.
